Holiday Home Tour Part 2

Linking up with Common Ground do-commonground.com
Front porch swing and chalkboard.
 Christmas tree in living room.

This is a vintage cooler I painted a couple of years ago.
Snowmen to greet you as you climb the stairs.

This big fella is joined by his Christmas friends.
Here is the Dickens Christmas village upstairs in the den.
I just love my girly pink Tiffany tree that is in my studio.  It is decorated with vintage Chanel pins etc, hankies, cateye glasses....

 Snowman guest room.
Finally the tour ends with the Master Bedroom.
I made the glitter deer canvas and used some coastal accents.

The pillow in front is one I wrapped with a crochet scarf I made, then I added a vintage rhinestone brooch.  The faux fur pillows are from Walmart along with the fuzzy one on the chair.

The Noel letters are also from Walmart.

I hope you enjoyed the tour, and I hope this season brings lots of love and blessings to you all!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

2013 Holiday Home Tour

Holiday Home Tour 2013

Part 1

This year I added some different touches to the Holiday Decor.  I pulled out the inherited Dickens Village, which is so time consuming but worth it, and I added some sparkly details.  Pardon the pictures they are not professional but the small Canon does the job.  I love this time of year, the shopping, lights, Blog home tours, crowds and cheer.  You see I know the real meaning of Christmas is my precious Lord and Saviour's birthday and that makes the celebration special along with family and friends.

The painted green sideboard is in my breakfast nook.  You probably recognize the Southern Living tray and pedestal with cloche.  Inside of the cloche is my tiny spoon collection from around the world.

This glass table is located in the Dining room.  The wooden container is filled with lights, antlers and mercury candle holders.
This year I added some mercury glass touches to the living room area.  The birch candles are from Pottery Barn outlet and the candleholders are a yard sale score.  I added the lighted branches.

My son's new Father in law gave me some very old antlers that are bleached white.  I painted the tips gold on one of them to change them up.

I made the Joy letters years ago and I grouped the old world Santas together on top of the antique chinoisserie cabinet.

I will add more pictures soon of upstairs.

Merry Christmas!

Backyard Guest are Best

Our house has a rear entry garage off of an alley.  I love that, but it makes our backyard kind of open to neighbors.  The previous owner planted some shrubs which will mature into privacy.  We have a back door with a gazebo for now that I hope will one day magically turn into a screened porch with a fireplace.   Pardon the green mossy stuff on the patio a side effect of all of the rain we have had this summer.  We hope to pressurewash the whole house this fall.   The last picture is a 60 year old tricycle my Dad gave me, I will probably add it to the front porch and put a plant on it.

Dining Room

I am still having challenges posting with my Ipad, I guess I need to take a class.  So I am back to my ancient laptop and transporting pics the old fashion way, but like Sy on Duck Dynasty would say "Hey" it works.
I finally finished the dining room.  It was painted terracotta when we moved in and it kind of grew on me.  The curtain panels were left by the previous owner and I found the long floral scarf/valance at a thrift store for $8.  The glass sideboard is made from 2 plant stands and a piece of glass that was also left here.  The 2 Pottery Barn wicker dining chairs are a yard sale find for $15 each.  The antique oval mirror was a gift from my sister.   The rest of the decor I already had and used in previous houses.

The next picture is my yard sale find of the year!   I love this very large oil painting that I scored for $80 at an estate sale.  I have seen these retail for $1400.   The north Atlanta area has awesome sales!

I Am Back From Blogging Break

Time has flown by these last few months.  I didn't mean too but I took a vacay from blogging.  I guess I had a lack of inspiration.  I sort of got hooked on Pinterest and that filled my need for creativity for a while.  I continue to enjoy my favorite blogs and the many inspired people who come up with the greatest ideas and post gorgeous pictures of their life.  I have been creating some makeovers that I want to share soon.  Here is a sneak peek of the mini makeover I did on my parents back porch.

Spring Break

Do you have travel plans?  Many of my friends are at the beach and posting pictures on Facebook of their pedicures, and sun kissed faces.  I am jealous!  I guess I have to be content to pin pics of the beach on Pinterest for now!

Pinterest Inspired Jewelry Holders

I must admit I am addicted to Pinterest.  So many great ideas to inspire!  I found a picture for homemade jewelry holders made out of a silverware trays.  In the fall I found 2 wooden silverware caddies for $2 each.  I decided to make them for my 2 nieces as Christmas gifts.  I simply spraypainted the trays then decoupaged scrapbook papers onto them.  I tried to screw in cup hooks but that didn't work well so I just placed the clear 3M hooks onto the trays to hang necklaces etc.  They really liked them and I tried to personalize them with the designs.  Keep on Pinning!
