Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I hope and pray this Christmas is extra special with lots of hugs, hot chocolate, crackling fires and family.  This is only the second Christmas in 28 years my immediate family is able to stay home and not hit the road.  It is bittersweet because we lost my precious MIL in January, it is not the same without her.  She loved Christmas more than any other time of the year.  We all are looking forward to my wonderful parents, sister, nieces and nephews coming here Christmas day!
God Bless you all!
We sure miss you Mom and MaMaw!

The Christmas Season is officially underway.  I finished up the decorating around the house and yard.  It was fun to decorate our new house especially the front porch.  I had to buy a new tree because the old one didn't make the move from Missouri.  I found a slim 7.5 ft one at Sam's.  It is just right for our small living room.  The whole neighborhood is turning into The Griswolds.  I just love this time of year, not only recognizing why we celebrate Christmas but the time spent with family and friends, the shopping and the lights and music.  It will be nice to be close to family this season instead of 14 hours away.  I hope you are having a wonderful time of the year too!  I have to take pictures of the house but I will share some inspiration pictures I have found on Pinterest.

Trash to Treasure and Fall Inspiration

Trash to treasure table.  My neighbor put this table on the road for trash pick up.  When my husband wasn't looking I grabbed it :)  Just kidding, he is used to my dumpster diving.  Anyhoo, it was used outside so all of the paint was crumbling off.  I brought it home and brushed it off and applied a sealer.  I liked the chippy paint look!  I then painted the top green.  I had these left over house numbers so I cut them up and applied the decal.  Lastly my trusty RL tobacco glaze was brushed on.  Since this is the 7th house we have owned I liked the idea of adding the number 7.

Ain't it cute....The next few picks are of some fall decor scattered around the house...Enjoy!

Autumn has arrived in Georgia, Yay!  I decided to add some fall elements to the front porch.  I made the large graphic pillow out of 2 dishtowels from Target.  My mom has given me a Pfaff sewing machine.  So she helped me learn about it and started the pillow, then I finished it off.  It is sew much fun!  : ) The floral pillow is a vintage tablecloth that I wrapped around an existing pillow.  The rest is Goodwill finds.

The same pillow is displayed in a little vignette inside.  The bench and vintage cooler is a previous make over post.  I hope you are enjoying the cooler temps, I sure am!

Nifty Thrifty Finds

I found this cool chunky suitcase for $8.00.  It has real leather trim.
My next find is this Karastan wool rug for $20.00.  It has some fading, but is in excellent shape overall.

I found these 2 coastal watercolors at the same garage sale where I found the rug. They were $5.00 each.  The paintings are by the same artist and depicts the island of Bermuda.  (I want to go there!)  In the mean time I can stare at these and dream!

The Southern Front Porch and Door Re Do

I have been enjoying my return to the south.  I dearly miss my friends in Missouri but it feels like I am home.  If you are a southerner you probably know how much we love our front porches and sweet tea!  Our new house has a beautiful front porch and we have had mild weather here to sit out there and have a nice cold glass of sweet tea!

I placed my vintage terrarium in the corner with a lamp and put my vintage framed chalk board beside it.  Right now it lists my front porch rules :)

I tried to find a before pic of the front door to compare but I lost it : (  It was a faded charcoal gray and the lock had been changed out and it wasn't painted at all around the lock.  In my neighborhood all of the doors are gray, red or black.  As I was deciding what color to paint it I found a can of outside oops paint from Home Depot.  It is greenish gray color.  I was concerned it may not be dark enough to contrast with the stone facade.  I bought it anyways for $7.00 and figured I could have it darkened if I didn't like the color.  After 2 coats it darkened and I really liked it.  But it still needed a little something something so I broke out my trusty Ralph Lauren Tobacco glaze and applied it.  I also ordered a custom house number decal from Etsy and applied that after it was completely dried.  Whatcha think?

Vintage Mix Up

The previous owner of our home left this little treasure in the garage.  It is an old Kitchen Aide mixer, and it weighs a ton!  I think it is about 50 years old.  I love the light yellow color, and it still works!

I thought the flowers from my yard nicely compliments the yellow mixer  : )   I love gerber daisies and hydrangeas~!

It's Been A Whirlwind...

We have finally settled into our new home.  It has been a busy 2 months.  Our closing was delayed here so we had to store half of our belongings in 2 storage units, and the other half in the garage of our new home.  So in essence we had to move 3 times.  :( I am so happy to be all moved in, even though we have been digging our way out of boxes.  Thankfully we loved the paint colors so we didn't have to repaint anything.  I wanted to post some photos of the house before so I took some pics before the previous owner had totally moved out.
This is the living room.  We ended up purchasing the sofa and loveseat.  I loved the style.
This is the kitchen and dining area.

Spare bedroom that will also be my studio.

I will be posting pictures as I decorate.  It is nice to spread out a little.  See you next week!
